Default Removing O2 on Hookers?

I have a feeling that my O2 sensor is rubbing the underside of the car. OK, it's more of a certainty. The black sheeth is completly worn away. What's going on here? I can't get it out more than 2 turns without it hitting the bottom of the car and it's shorting out causing my ECM Sensor fuse to blow. (No reverse, MAF etc) UGH!

Don't remove your o2 sensor if it is the front sensor. Rubbing the underside doesn't really sound like a problem, the black sheath probably melted away due to the header. Just rewrap your cable with some heat wrap and zip tie it away.

OK, it's not due to heat. It's due to it rubbing up against the underside of the car. The car actually has DENTS from the O2 smacking into it. Can someone with Hooker LTs take a look at theirs driver side and tell me how much clearence they have between the header and the heat shield?

So how the heck do you get the O2 sensor out to change it? Evidently mine is shorting out on the heat shield. I'm hoping this is the cause of my upper RPM misfire as well....

Mine shorted out as well,on the heat shield. With the wire unplugged,I just used an open ended wrench to break it loose and then spun it out with my fingers.Every so often I would spin the wire so it wouldn't get bunched up.It came out quite easily.

You may have to try and cut some of the heatshield out before you remove it.You should be able to cut 2 slits in the shield on each side of the censor and bend it out of the way.

Thanks guys...I cut away the heat shield and was able to remove it. However, it seems that it is pretty tight up against the fuel/brake lines still. I got stuck buying a Bosch till tomorrow when I'll grab an AC Delco. Ya happen to know if the Delcos are shorter at all?

FWIW, no more stutter at high RPMs. Hell...I scared my best friend while on the on ramp New Goodyear GS D3 285s still let the car go sideways half way through 3rd....

Mines pretty close to the lines as well. But not close enough to worry about.I'm not sure if the o2's are shorter.I think they are all the same.I've been running the Vette rear o2's for awhile.
