Default headers and Y pipe

Hey everyone, im still a little new to this all. I have a 2000 Trans Am WS6 with Borla Exhaust. I want to get headers and a Y pipe. Is that all i have to get for it too hook up? is their anything else i should get while im spending the time and money besides those two items. Im looking at the MAC midlength headers and Y pipe.

Thanks in advance..

Chris.

if you really want to see performance gains you'll want Long tube headers.

Personally I don't really see the point of mids/shorties unless you're in CA, where emmsions and CATS locations regs are different.

It's the case of do or do not. To me mids/shorties are like alcohol free beer. They'll give you a headache but none of the fun.

Lots of brands to choose from, see the sponser -------> listed on the right. Then do a search (top of the page) on the different brands.

Pacesetter are a good bet, affordable and reasonbly well made with good performance.

Hooker and Jet Hot are some others.

Stainless Works, QTP and Kooks are the expensive ones, on a highly modded engine the better flowing QTP/Kooks should see more power, but on a bolt on car, it won't be all that noticable.

Get either coated or stainlees steel. Also need to decide about emmsions. CATS and EGR are not so bad, and AIR is only needed for some CAT types. Do some research on them before removing them.

Only the CATS cost HP, but this can be avoided with correct selection of CAT.

Same goes for the Y pipe, concerning the emmisions.

Lots of makes, TSP (Texas Speed & Performance) most of the header makers offer them.

2.5" or 3", smaller size for milder modified car and more low end grunt. For high end power and high HP cars the bigger tubing will be a better bet.

Read the sticky's they offer lots of info and try a few searches.
