Sorry if I'm jacking the thread, but with all that's been said... would it be a good idea to install a 90/90 on my 382? (ported/polished stock heads, mild cam, normal bolt-ons)

Yes, get the 90/90 and some headers and you'll be over 400 hp

Haven't heard of anyone using a FAST 90/90 on a stock heads/cam setup, probably would be overkill for that. I would guess you might need a tune, though you could just start it up and see how it runs

You need to read some more threads. Lots of people gaining big with stock displacement LS1s running the FAST 90/90. It is definitely not overkill...just a little pricey.

I think he was talking about stock heads and stock camshaft, but made it look like stock c.i.

Are you running off your stock tune? Or did you have to get a tune for it to work, cause I have a 90/90 setup coming in the mail in a couple days, and I need to know if a tune is necessary, cause I can't go a day without my car (no backup atm)

I would definitely get it tuned. My car was already tuned and picked up power after it was retuned for the 90mm.

well man i got an 01 and take a look at my signature. I gained 19HP and 21TQ on just bolt ons and no tune. I actually ordered my Throttle body from Nick Williams, his throttle body has no problems at all installing and going on. I did it all myself and I'm 20 years old and not that experienced in installing all the things on my car yet.

So far I have stuck to bolt ons and I have gotten really good numbers, I'm in the middle of doing a speed density tune. I have to check my car later this month (since I'm away from it at school now) and get the wideband out and see what my values are at but that will be later.

If you want nick williams number I will be glad to give it to you in a pm. He will also be happy to help you tune your car, he has EFI LIVE and HPTUNERS. I bought his TB and then went with the fast 90mm intake. Nick can give you a good price on the TB too. just let me know. he is here in charlotte near me and I have his number

Everybodyonb this site needs to get off of "tunning"'s nuts. you don't need a tune to drive your car. unless you put a HUGE cam in an auto or you swap out to different injectors or somethuing major like that. Tunning is more like "fine tunning" your set up. it is used to get everything out of your set up.

^^ thank you for that. a lot of people need to realize that. A lot of people go around changing things that shouldn't be changed and end up changing there car too much and it then runs like **** and they always ask why it runs like ****.

I got my 90mm throttle body from Nick Williams (his own design) and a FAST 90mm intake manifold and i just bolted it on and took it to the dyno...gains are in sig. Now I'm FINE Tuning...aka AFR and VE table along with I had to already change my injector table b/c of going from 28.8lb/hr to 36.5lb/hr

19 rwhp and 21 rwtq. those are some great gains over the LS6 on a stock motor.

Don't know if you were jumping me for my question, because I didn't know and thats what questions are for.
I'm sure other people were wondering the same thing. Remember, this is a forum to ask questions, no matter how dumb or intellectual they are, we're all here to learn.

Actually Kris Jones at SDPC is just one of the vendors that sell them. Here is list of some vendors.

SDPC
Thunder Racing
Speed Inc.
Texas Speed
LG Motorsports
Xtreme Motorsports
Speed Engineering
TTP
TEA
Rapid Motorsports
AFR
Cartek
-and a few more that I can't remember at the moment

All sales are directed to the vendors. If someone has a problem or needs help tuning they can email or PM me and I will help.

Nick

That's good to know - I'm putting together a little package this winter similar to Tony's with the AFR heads, FAST 90/NW 90, cam and some fine tuning. He can probably get me headed in the right direction for the tuning but it's nice to know if I run in to any problems - there's another expert out there willing to help!
