Default I did it!!!

I finally installed my 1 3/4-1 7/8 kooks, catted y-pipe and hooker cat back.. Well, I really did'nt do myself I had a local muffler shop do it for $350.00 and by the looks of it I'm glad I didn't do it.. Anyway first impression I have of the sound is "outstanding"!!!! Sound is almost stock at idle, but once you stick your foot into the throttle it comes to life like a raped ape... I did notice that I get up the rpm range pretty quickly, which now makes me keep an I on it. For those people on this board who like to deliberate like I do about any type of mod for your cars don't do it on this set-up it really does sound good and really does feel faster. Next up my Textralia clutch I recieved today and 4.10 gears.

That makes me wonder why I'm paying a performance shop $675 to do my complete exhaust( remove all the old and install Kooks headers w/ORY and Bassani catback)! Hmmmmmmm. These guys are good and I can't do this myself so am I really paying too much?

Are they removing the stock exhaust? If so, does that price include any tuning? That price would seem fairer to me if tuning is included. If not, I think it is a little on the high side.

600+ is definatly high, but if they tune the car for LTs it would be better.

I paided around 200 for my headers/duals installed. No problem with having someone else do it, I had the duals built by the installer, and couldnt drive the distance to get to the shop with open LTs (didnt want to either).

Yes, they are removing the stock exhaust. The only tuning I know of is the "Diablo sport II" I bought.I'm kind of limited around NE Georgia because I don't have any connections yet as I am new to this stuff.

You might try posting in the regional forums on this site to see if anybody knows of a cheaper / better place to take your car to. You never know, there might be somebody willing to help you at least install the headers...

To do a custom tune he wants an extra $300.

I would wait on the exhaust if they are going to charge you 600+. There is NO way it should cost that much...they're definitely gouging you. If you possibly can, and ask friends for tools ect if you don't have them, and do it yourself. Just imagine what other performance mod you can get with 600 dollars! Especially with all the awesome deals the vendors are doing in the Group Purchase https://ls1tech.com/forums/sponsor-sales-specials-44/ section.

Peace,
Haans

$675 for the install + $300 for a tune? Take your business to someone who wants it! I can see $300 for a custom tune - that means spending at least a few hours running the car through part throttle and wot (not just flashing a canned tune that worked for some other car). If I were you, I would seriously look into doing the install yourself (it's not that hard) or finding another shop to do the work.
