Default What causes rasp??

Can anyone explain exactly what causes rasp?

turbulance, lack of back pressure, unequal pressures, too many cfm??.

I had a raspy exhaust before and hated it.

Firing order, combustion chamber volume/shape, head/block material, y-pipe exhausts, etc etc
