Default FAST 90 install question...

I just got my Fast intake and NW 90mm throttle body installed on the car. The wife was less than pleased to see to see boxes on the front porch, but oh well... Anyway, I painted and port-matched the intake which was pretty easy with my dremel. It is so big and beautiful and looks even better than the stock intake. Heres a pic of how it came out.

Now to the question part... I didnt read the directions until after I installed the intake, oops. I had 10 "extra" bolts that i later learned were to replace the ones holding the valley cover down. This is because the stock LS1 bolts are too tall and do not allow the intake to seat properly. That being said, when I installed the LS6 valley cover I used the shorter bolts that came with it. It seems that there is enough room under the intake for the LS6 bolts, has anyone ever heard this before I take the intake back off to put the LSX bolts in?

I don't think that there are any vacuum leaks, everything seems to have sealed up nicely. I even lit some matches and blew them out to see if the smoke would get sucked under the intake by the ports, but it didnt. One thing I did notice is that the engine sounds a good bit louder than before. It seems that more valvetrain noise can be heard through the intake than with the LS6 one that was stock. Has anyone ever experienced this?

It is normal to hear a little more noise, atleast from my experience. I would remove the intake and replace the bolts in the valley cover if I were you. Even though it seals up you are probably stressing the intake by bowing it over the bolts to get a seal. If that is true it may eventually crack and could also be causing some of the extra noise you are hearing.

I went ahead and pulled the intake back off, installed the new bolts and then put it all back together again. Took about an hour, but at least I will sleep better at night knowing that everything is good to go. There is a little less noise from the engine now, I guess the vibrations were being transfered from the bolt to the intake and it echoed in the intake. In any event it is better now, and I guess the moral of the story is read the directions before installing anything.

BTW, your throttle body rocks, very nice both in appearance and functionality.
