What is a resonater for? My car had one but did not have any cats.Does that sub for having cats?Recently I got a cut-out installed and they put the cut out where the resonater was.Am i going to have issues with emissions later on.
They are not a replacement for cats. They reduce noise. If you didn't have cats, then the rear 02 signal is already modified & you changing from resonators to cut outs should not cause an SES. However, if visual inspection is part of your emissions test, then you will have trouble. Usually, a mirror is used to visually inspect that cats are installed. The resonators look like cats & may have been mistaken for cats previously.
