Default Catch can mod

I hope this is the right section for this question.

How many people have a catch can?

My friend is installing an LS6 intake on his 98 Z28 and when the LS1 intake was off there was an oily build up inside, so I said LS1's have been know to use a lot of oil through the pcv valve and into the intake manifold, and how some people use a catch can hooked up to the pcv hose line. Where can I find out how to do this when I switch to an LS6 intake, like step by step instructions?

Glad I bought mine a year ago before the big price hike. I also made my own bracket out of some scrap steel I had laying around.

I have no egr or emissions equipment. I sometimes smell a tiny bit of oil burning...hmm
Need to do more research on this one.

Oil getting by the pcv is for sure a problem with these engines. I've been through a lot of top engine cleaner in the last 5 years.
I found there is a lot of diversity in catch cans. Some buy a pretty, expensive anodized one, some fab one out of a metal cannister or even pvc, some use an air line separator (what I use). I have mine mounted in front of the battery, lower than the inlet back to the intake. Seems to work pretty well so far on my high mileage/low mod LS1, we'll see.

I have the AMW unit. Looks good and works just as well. I bought it a week before they announced their prices would go up. I'm not sure if I would of gotten it if the price was $160 plus $25 for a bracket.
Some members have gotten "import tuner brand" catch cans and seem to like those. They seem to be less than half the price of the AMW, but I'm not sure if they work as well.

Thanks for the link. One question though, it says that the bracket will not fit on EGR equipped vechiles, so do they sell one or does someone else make a bracket that would fit?

If you're switchig to the LS6 intake you're not going to have an EGR so what does it matter?

Mounted my small Greddy 9mm can down behind the headlight, in front of the battery. Fabricated a bracket out of some junk I bought at the hardware store, bought some extra rubber hose too. Its been on for about 2,000 miles, haven't seen any oil come up through the straw tube on the side though.
