I currently have Macs and the ORY on my car, and they seem to work fine. I didn't modify them in anyway, but I know the sound of LT's will be much better. I figure with LT's and a cut out I would see 10-15 hp max. So.. yeah I'm going to sell the Macs for some Pacesetters. They just better not ****** leak like my Dynatechs did!!!!!!!!!

I had the MACs and liked them. With the stock 'verter, and a Diablosport tune, it put down 334 RWHP and about 350 RWTQ. With my SS3800 'verter locked, and a FFP dyno tune, it put down 354 RWHP and 360RWTQ. Both were through Magnaflow cats'. On the track, and on crappy street tires, I can run pretty consistant high 12s, wereas with the MACs, I got into the 12s a few times, on the same night. Not really a GOOD direct comparison, but, maybe give you an idea.

I would say, if you didn' t have ANY headers, go with LTs. Since it seems like you are "stepping up" from MACs, the additional money may not be worth it. I know I like the look of the T304 SS better than the coatings.

I am going to stay with the Macs and just make them slip fit and have Allan Futral build me a custom y pipe. He builds a fine y pipe and I think this will give me the gain I am looking for.

The ceramic coating that came on the macs I got from speed inc 4 years ago still looks very good. I am not sure if they used Jet hot coatings or who else but they did a great job. As for sound, with the Edelbrock cat back on the car this car sounds bad ***. Very little rasp but deep rumble, it just does not flow to great so That is what I have a cutout for.

And if I remember correctly, I went 12.6x to around 12.19. But that was also going from a 10 bolt to a 9".

You could mod those macs and maybe get 10 more HP. Port the openings of the primaries, grind down the welds for better fow.
And I hear of people cutting the ball flang off and weld a 3 bolt flat flang to them.
And maybe get a bigger Y made for it.

When I put the flp's on, I ported the openings of the primaries. You can actually look in there and see the welds. Not any more. There smooth inside now.
I think you picked up 25 hp because of the cutout, not the long tubes. I have long tubes and I went from 381 down to 355 when I closed the cutout.

I also have Macs on my son's 94 Z28 and I think they are great. I did have to clean out the welds in all the ports and in the collector, but they really woke up that LT1.
