Default Header Install Question

Ok i am putting pacesetter l/t's on and decided to get ready before they got here. I found a how to guide with pics, thank god. I have the air and egr crap all taken off and the coil packs as well with the right hand side valve cover. Next on the list is going underneath and taking the bottom stuff off. The headers i am getting have no emmmisions so all the air and egr crap ill just throw in a box and in the attic. What else will i need for the install? I think i will need some kind off blockoff plate for the top of the intake where the egr hooked up to. Will i need some extenisions for the front o2 sensors and some sims for th back two? I do plan on getting a tune to delete the air and egr when i get my cam and heads on. Will it hurt anything to drive it with the ses light on? Will it hurt gas milage or performance?

Tap a 1-3/8 freeze plug into the hole on the intake and that wil take care of the egr.

Go ahead and pull the fuses and relay for the air as well as remove the pump and all of the hoses associated with it. Its easy.

Personally I reuse the stock gaskets but if you feel like you need new ones then buy new OEM gaskets.

You will need some extensions for the o2's.

I would go ahead and replace plugs with the headers off. Pacesetters fit so good that you should be able to put them in without banging the plugs. Get a friend to hold them up from the bottom, that helps alot.

I usually have to disconnect the steering shaft and move it out of the way to put the driver side in.

You will need to remove the oil dipstick tube.

It wont hurt to drive with ses light on. Dont worry about sims for the rear o2's. Just wait and get them deleted in your tune.

I think thats about it. It is really an easy job to be honest.

Good luck, Mike.

yeah i had all the top stuff done in like a hour, lid, coils, right valve cover. Not that hard at all. I have the oil dipstick tube out as well. Now the guide didnt show anything about taking the steering shaft out. How and what do i need to take loose to get it out? It will also be a while on the tune unless i can find someone that has the capabilities to just delete a few things for me, not actually mess with the tuning part of it till i am done with cam ect.. thanks for the reply.

i would try to install them with the steering linkage in place first. It's a PITA to get it loose and worse to get it back on

The SES for the rear o2's, air, & egr will not hurt your mileage or performance.

I would recommend upgrading your primary O2 sensors to the Bosche 13111's. They have a higher wattage heater and elliminate the need for extensions

I agree, Pacesetters fit so well you shouldn't have to do this.

yeah me and a friend are about to change my headers out for pacesetters as well, and you only need one plug for the top of the manifold and it can be bought at home depot or lowes. i went ahead and got the O2 extentions and got my tsp offroad Y before the headers lol, but from all i have heard and my friend on here said it was the easer than he thought it would be. I would recommend having a friend help just to get it done faster, im gonna work on one side while he works on the other should cut the time in half lol. prolly doing the install next weekend and i will tell you how it went if you havent started on yours.

Just installed DynamXX Lts', and you don't have to take the steering linkage out. The oil filter needs to come out in order to fit the header in this way.

You're talking about some heavy $hit there. I was able to
drop the drivers' side manifold/cat with no problem.
Can't remember exactly why but I took the cat off the pass
side before dropping the manifold. And when I say drop,
I'm not kidding. Those bit$ches are heavy, at least
compared to headers.

BTW, I didn't remove steering knuckle, oil filter, anything
at all below the heads (except dipstick) when I put my
pacesetters on.
