Default How to get motor to take water?

I just flushed the coolant with Prestones new coolant, didn't want Dexcool in there anymore. And this time its not taking the water in. I put 1 cointainer in the radiator, and it took in a small amount, but it stopped there. I basically started the car up, and let it idle until it got up to temperature, thinking it would open up the 160 t-stat and allow the water to go in. I could see the water circulating through, but I would think that it would take in more water than just 1 cointaier. I remember with my GTP I was told you had to get it overheat before it starts to take any water in.
The temp gauge on the dashboard is reading around 185-190.
And anyway to get the air bubbles out? Thanks

I had to jack up the right front corner with the cap off. To get all the air out of the system. It worked perfectly.

Well, how sure are you that everything drained out of the
block? Unless you took one of the plugs out of the block it
probably didn't.
I flushed my system then kept flushing with distilled water
then made my coolant/distilled water mix based on what
I calculated was still in the block from total system volume.
Might be kind of ****, but I like to be thorough.
I've flushed mine several times, never had to "burp" the
system either, for some reason. Other vehicles I have.

You should get one of those tools. I cant remember what it is called. But it hooks to where the radiator cap goes and seals it off. You hook a air compressor up to it, and it pulls a vacuum on the system. This is a great way to check for leaks. It should hold the vacuum. Then you take the air line off and attach another line into a bottle of coolant. Turn the valve and it sucks the coolant in, not letting any air in with it. I have done this several times and never have to bleed the air out, becuase this eliminates all the air in the system.
