flowmaster,is it that bad??

Default flowmaster,is it that bad??

I have a flowmaster on my 2000 ss w/slp lt's no cats,yet(adding slp's cats since i live in maryland).I made a dyno post a few days ago.my car only did 381.6/374 tq w/mods in sig.
The installers can't find anything wrong ,will be adding more timing though.is it possible for my flowmaster to be slowing me down 20+ rwhp???
My car should be at 400+ rwhp w/my set up.The installers even say that.I read everywhere that flowmaster is slowmaster but have not seen any dyno's or real proof just word of mouth,please enlighten me.

What is so bad about the Flowmasters? I know everyone says they suck on LS1s but why? There so good on everything else.

dont know but I know they choke the sh-t out of LS1's for some reason

I don't understand.I thought the flowmaster just had chambers that direct the flow with nothing else to stop it.

And those chambers restrict the air and does not let it flow. It's usually not a huge problem on a stock car but you obviously aren't stock. Get a different exhaust before you do a final tune.

your numbers are not that that bad. did they put you on a mustang dyno, becaus e they usually read a little low. people don't like the flowmaster because they sound like **** above 4,000 rpm's. As far as choking off 20hp, there is no way, the flowmaster is not that bad, but usually puts up a littlke less number wise than most of the other exhaust systems out there.

like in the last thread that the other guy posted..i've yet to see proof of back to back dyno pulls with jsut switching the exhaust to see a difference. I looked in your mods..you don't have a cam and you dynoed 380...thats not to bad at all.

Black 01,i did'nt know there were mustang dyno's,what's the difference.It's like when i get my zx12 kawasaki dyno'ed.they don'tuse a different one for each bike,please explain.I have heard other people mention mustang dyno's before.

there is a dyno jet and a mustang dyno. Don't know exactly what the differences are but people see lower numbers on a mustang dyno. if someone else knows the exact differences please post as I would like to know also.

mustang designed for testing and tuning, not so much as well, dynoing for power. dynojet is more for measuring HP. the reason the Flowmaster flows less is that many of the modern exhaust out there are more of a flow though design. it would defenately be better to upgrade to a better exhaust.
