Default temp gauge problem

my temp gauge isn't operating like normal. at the most it only goes up to about 175. it doesn't go up any farther, and when in traffic it goes up to 210 only if in traffic for a very long time. this was even happening while it was warm out so it's not the weather. changed thermostat. checked temp with Tech 2 and it reads good. fans seem to turn on and off properly, but it's hard to tell while driving with all of the exhaust noise. any ideas?

the 98's are accurate. Mine shows 177 on tech 2 and i have it so where the fans come on and stay on, never gets above 185 period.

Sounds like it's working perfectly normal. Sounds exactly like my gage reads in my '98, except I reprogrammed my fans to come on sooner so it never gets to 210 any more, even stuck in traffic.

As said above, the '98 temp gage actually moves and works unlike the '99+. The stock t-stat begins to open between 177-184, and is fully open by 195, so it sounds like your temps are normal.
