maf sensor + throttle body

maf sensor + throttle body Ive heard several people say that putting a new maf sensor on the ls1 just causes problems down the road. What are these problems?
I personally was thinking of going with a bbk throttle body and a granatelli maf sensor. Is this a bad choice
FYI i currently have a FIPK intake, pacesetter LTs and a magnaflow cat back

Can't say about the Granetelli, but my SLP 85mm MAF has been trouble free since I put it on a few years ago. I believe the problems arise when tuning after a head/cam swap in 'some cases'. Or if you're having trouble with a tune, you might need to swap the original back in, but I don't know why specifically. I have no second thoughts about recommending the SLP 85mm MAF sensor.
dont put a MAF sensor in the car that isnt stock unless you calibrate it. it works for some guys because it will lean out a rich tune. other than that its a waste of time and money. if you run it lean you can ping and cause other issues. as for the TB save your money and port your stock one
Not to take over your post, but if you have a bigger lid and TB and intake, why would you want to bottle-neck your intake system with a small MAF body? Im puttin in a 90/90 combo with a 90 lid right now, and ive also still hear to keep the stock MAF with that too...That makes no sense... I havent gottin a MAF yet...

Verdad Gallardo you can buy one for about 100-150 or if you are handy enough with a dremil and have about 2 hours to kill you can do a really nice job. i did mine that way and hand smoothed it. took a long time but it was well worth it. there is a lip in there BEFORE the tb blade that you can flatten out, if oyu look in there you will see what i am talking about
