Ignition question. 98 ignition on LS2 stroker?
Ignition question. 98 ignition on LS2 stroker? I need a little help. I am in the process of rounding up all of the parts that I will need in order to setup my 402 stroker. I have a 98Z28 M6 and it has the older style valve covers with the perimeter bolts. I have ordered the newer valve covers that I will need for the new AFR heads. From looking at the new valve covers, it looks like the mounting holes for the ignition coils are in different locations for the new valve covers.
Does this mean that I have to buy new coils with new mounting hardware or could I use my old coils in a different bracket of some sort?
There is nothing wrong with my old coils. I really don't want to fork out anymore cash than I have to at this point. I am about $3K over budget on this according to my accountant (reads wife).

You will have to buy new coil brackets only (or used if you can find them). No need to get new coils.
GM 12563288 coil brackets are about $14 a piece (2). The valve covers are about $60 a piece.
