drivable without front O2 sensor after LT,ORY install! bad or good?
I'm installing hooker lts and ory on a 01 camaro z28.
I'm covering and tie-ing down the rear O2 sensors to the frame,
but
The front O2 sensors that you use 24" extension, is a slight problem.
Only because I will not have the O2 extension cable for a few more days.
will it be safe to drive the car or will the car being running extremely rich or lean?
I dont want to take a chance of damagine the engine do to not having the front O2 sensors plugged into the longtube headers.
thanks for any answers!!

this is confusing.
I have heard from some mechanics that you SHOULD NOT drive w/o the front O2 sensors because the car will run lean, and you burn up a piston.
and
I have heard from others that it will be fine just dont drive at WOT. Reason being is that O2 sensors crap out, and when it does it will throw and SES code and the computer with adjust the air to fuel properly. Also many people have SES codes for a bad O2 sensor and they drive for months w/o getting it fixed. So the computer will just treat a missing O2 as a malfunctioning one.
umm??

the headers are installed, I wont have O2 extensions until tuesday, so the front o2 are not plugged in.
This is the crazy thing. my camaro is not throwing any SES codes for this, but before the header swap, my car threw two SES for the rear o2.

Rear 02 does not control how the engine runs...its government emissions only. The front 02s are what the computer reads for the fuel trims, so make of that what you will but I'd never run with no/malcuntioning 02s. Also if you are breaking in headers it is going to run rich for a while, so run old 02s first. Running rich is bad for cats, but it should not have thrown or "unthrown" any catalytic codes insodoing.
