Question FAST 90/NW 90 Users - Lid & MAF Questions

I'm finally getting that useless LS1 intake off the top of my motor over the winter, and I'm considering going the FAST 90/Nick Williams 90 route instead of LS6 and PTB.

The dealbreaker is this: I'm running the stock MAF and the SLP lid, both are 75mm to the best of my knowledge. Will I need to run an 85mm lid and MAF with the FAST/NW Combo?

What would be the downside to running the FAST/NW Combo with the stock MAF and SLP Lid?

Thanks in advance folks.

it will work just fine. I would highly recommend you look into !maf to eliminate the restriction all together. You might also consider upgrading your airbox/lid combo with the volant or similar intake. I'll have photo of my assembled combo in the near future.

Here are some progress shots:https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-external-engine/423580-top-end-progress.html

Progress looks good!

I don't have plans to upgrade the intake any time soon, the car is getting n2o this winter and likely most of my dough will be going toward that.

TTT - Anybody else?

Will you have to.... no..... but you probably wont get the most out of the 90/90 without it. There are a few people on the board that are using the stock lid/maf. You could always do it and upgrade the lid and maf later.

keep in mind also that if you upgrade you maf in any way, your new challenge becomes finding someone who can tune it.

DO NOT GET THE VOLANT ive had it for 3 years and it is extremely restrictive. ive actually dynoed same day, 8 minutes apart, and the 78mm lid made 7 more HP.
and that was on a small motor. now i cant imagine how much HP that thing would be costing me.

heres what i just put on...
stage 2 heads(Ti retainers, ISKY springs $$$, ferrera valves (2.055/1.60)
LSX 90 intake
LSX 90 TB
SLP 85 maf
TSP 85 lid
k&n
(not shown: )
JE forged pistons
Crower forged rods
ARP pro rod bolts...

lol my cam shouldnt have problems breathing now!

Can you elaborate a bit more? Hood open/closed? Blower fan on the motor yes/no?

I have a hard time believing this intake could be more restrictive than a lid/airbox combo.

hood open, cold night, cant remember on the fan.

i have the camaro version (one large oval) and it necks down REALLY bad where the oval, meets the round neck. since yours already is round may not have the same problem.

heres an illistration

plus we did 2 pulls each and the dyno was consistant at a 7-8 hp difference :yup:

heres an old *** pic
