it seems like it woeld put added stress on the fuel pump

I say that because I had to hot wire my wife's fuel pump in her grand prix because the fuel pump resistor went out and what "hotwiring" the fuel pump does is for the fuel pump to run in a high mode which in turn will cause your fuel pump to go bad faster.

Well, yes if you supply more than req'd V all the time, as in a literal HOT wire, then it will burn the pump out quicker, thats common sense. But, the product listed, is a hotwire relay kit, which IS CAPABLE of carrying more current, when needed. e.g. your tooling around town, the current req'd is low, you stomp on the throttle the req'd current goes up, the pump puts out more fuel....on a stock setup it taps out due to the limited amount of current the wiring harness can supply, however let it have more juice and the pump will work harder pumping more fuel to make more power w/o having to go exotic on the fuel system. This is not meant for building a powerplant that will require massive amounts of fuel for long periods of time, but more for those spirited runs around the country roads, or quarter mile trips. It is a reliable and safe way to increase the fuel supply capacity.

It says that it is a constant increase of 2.5 volts....

It sounds like this kit is made for when a fuel pump is getting old and this "hotwire" kit will get the most out of it before pulling the gas tank and changing the pump....

IMHO....I say if your fuel pump is working fine do not install this kit.......

It actually says it increases voltage an AVERAGE of 2.5 volts. Average to me means "not all the time." If it didn't have the relay, then yes, I'd say it would be a bad idea. I think as it sits, though, it should be just fine.

You could always call and ask, but I think it is exactly the same thing you'd be getting with the racetronix hot wire kit. Casper's does good work. I'm glad they're a sponsor.

Not exactly but close...
The construction, layout and some features are different.
We only manufacture this style of harness for 98 f-body cars.
For 99 and up we use this type of harness:
http://www.racetronix.com/product/RX...99-FPWHG-2.jpg

The purpose of the harness is covered in our ad here:
http://www.racetronix.com/RX-F99-FPKG-2.html

Typical voltage gain is apx. 1.5V on LT1 / LS1 f-body cars. This equates to apx. 15-18% gain in flow when using a Walbro gerotor pump only!
