Default Header Question

Well my current setup is stock manifolds/stock-y pipe/and slp loudmouth and in the spring i plan on gettin qtp 1 3/4 velocity headers, but if i get a off road y it will be annoingly loud and raspy, now my question is wat kind of setup would gain more hp, like if i got a catted y pipe or and off road y-pipe............i kno the backpressure should help but i was wondering if ne one with that kind of setup knew...

Thanks,
Tom

The freer flowing the exhaust is, the better, as long as you tune for it.

yeah you dont want backpressure it isnt a rice burner, thats why they make 3 inch Y pipes and long tube headers so the exhaust can escape quicker therefore more power with less stress on the engine.

Hi Flow Catted Y-pipe won't set you back too much in performance. The QTP catted Y is sweet but expensive. Either go with an ORY and put a borla xr1 in place of the LM resonator or go with a catted Y.

I have QTPs and their cat' d y-pipe, and the rasp is nearly completely gone, even with the QTEC open. You can hear it a little, but, the cat' s talk care of probably 85% of it. I think with cat' s it sounds bad@$$, and with a cam, wicked. It' s expensive, and you may have to give up a litttle clearance, but, most everyone recommends the use of the Flowmaster merge collector.

If your state cares about emmissions (which it probably doesn't) go with cats - you won't loose much performance and it'll take away most of the rasp... but if I were you, I'd just get a different catback like Hooker or Magnaflow... they both sound great and flow very well. If you've got the $$$ go Borla or GMMG
