Default Get catted y?

Hey everyone. I have borla catback right now. Im looking to get some pacesetters soon. I want to keep the borla and with LTs and ORY, i hear it will sound horrible, tons of rasp and be super truck loud. I dont want this. I really like the sound the car has now, deep, no rasp, and fairly loud. I want the same tone, maybe little louder. I want some more power and little louder so im going LTs and curious what catted Y to get or if i should screw it, and get ORY? I know ill lose a little power over ORY but not much right? I dont want to spend a ton of money on catted y but want a nice one that wont restrict me much and have a great sound. Can someone direct me to a good one and how it with LTs will change the sound of my borla. thanks!

Either a catted Y with open plate.
Or an ORY with all the air going through the muffler.
ORY won't set you back too much in terms of power.
I prefer the mufflex style Y pipes (QTP and Mufflex) due to the Flowmaster Scavenger Merge collector design. These Y's are typically more expensive and they're a bitch to install correctly/ clear driveshaft loops, etc., but are worth the performance.
If you want your typical Y, the TSP catted Y is worth a look.

Ok well i could use my borla plates to block it all off and send it all threw muffler with ORY or keep it all open and run catted y as it is. Wouldnt this sort of equal out the power between the two?

The Borla actually flows pretty well through the muffler.
You're fine with either decision.

Ok, so would a reg tsp catted y do the job? How will the LTs with catted y sound compared to it as of now? And could i throw in an elec cutout after the headers for when i need all the power and that open header sound? Or will this not work right

Keeping stock internals? Get the TSP catted Y.
Heads/cam in the future? Get a Mufflex style Y.

Place cutouts wherever you want. It's noise novelty once you have a free flowing setup.

Alright, yea i plan on keeping stock internals but going FI route little later on. So you think jsut get the pacesetters, TSP catted y, and get elec cutout? Or is that a waste? thanks!

I only mention the Mufflex Y for heads/cam because I saw great performance out of the one I had. It only lost 10rwhp to dual cutouts (480rwhp vs. 470rwhp).
Flow becomes exponentially important when your power increases. On stock internals, -cutouts here, high flow cats there-, kinda doesn't make too much of a difference.
You can always put an elec. cutout plate in your Borla. A friend of mine has one and it's a neat thing to have.

Sorry I can't give you a straight up answer. Every setup is different.

Alright, so LTs, tsp catted y and the borla elec plates or dual elec cutouts after the headers?

ok, think i have a better idea. I think maybe i should sell the borla since its causing a huge pain here, but keep the tips. How much do you think a borla catback would sell for minus tips? And then buy a loudmouth and replace the muffler ith the borla xr1 and run a borla mouth with LTs and ORY? Sound like a good idea, stupid, too much hassle?

Just keep the Borla, its one of the best catbacks out there. I run hooker LT's,hooker ory into my Borla, and the borla is wide open-no restrictor plates. It sounds great, lots of compliments. No drone on the hiway either. Its not raspy either, not as deep as duals, but a nice low tone, and sweet when u get on it, its loud when u crank it up, but at idle, its just a nice rumble.

I just ordered some headers and am going with a catted y. Wanted to keep the sound down a bit, and keep the exhaust smell down as well.

hmmm. i get mixed reviews on the borla with LTs and ORY. Some say it sounds awesome, others say its rasp city.... so which is it, haha. maybe ill order the headers and ORY first and try it o nthe borla, and if i dont like ti, swap it out for a diff catback.

I like the borla, like I said, not as deep as a dual setup, But I bought the Borla used when I bought the car, I do like duals though, But the Borla sounds good,IMO. When I have the cash, I'll probaly get duals, or wait till I get a cam, anyone running stock cam with duals, how does it sound? As far as power goes, mods are in the sig, but pre-shanerS3, I made 342rwhp and 346lb, with a flat *** tq curve-323lbs at 3000, so it works for now.

Ditch the cats, just get some LTs with a y pipe made for them. My car sounds great and it is a cheaper way to go.
