Not to high jack this thread but - how hard and long is and does it take to get a ls1 intake manifold off so you can paint it ? Is it much easier then the v6er's 3800 series 2 /?
thank you!

To be honest with you, it looks terrible.

Why don't you send it over to me for some "touchups" I'll need it for about a month or two though, you know, just because I'm so.... ummmm I'm such a perfectionist. Why don't you send your throttle body with it as well. Oh, and all the hardware and sensors as well.

done and done...
Actually I got it painted it then put it on, but I would imagine that it takes about 20-30 minutes to take it off to paint. v8 over v6 means more bolts.

Yeah the clear coat really gave it more of a shine than what I was looking for. It really doesnt look as glossy when it is on the car though.

Looks really good. FYI, if you had painted a layer of orange first, over the lettering, then masked it off, and painted the rest black, it might have saved you some time. Either way you achieved the end result.

Personaly, I think anything that says "FAST" under the hood of an LSx powered vehicle looks silly. I painted mine black.

Yeah that flash trashed it. I looks so much better in person. Looks like a camera phone took it. The intake was used when I got it and was red. I stripped and sanded a lot on this thing. It is really smooth.

Looks great! What a coincidence, I saw my first FAST intake that wasn't on a web page today, the guy had painted it black with silver lettering. I don't think it was gloss either, but it looked cool.
