I can't see them making you loose mpg, as long as you keep driving the same way. It'd probably go down only b/c you like hearing the exhaust and you stay in the throttle longer.

If you get a tune, the car should actually get better mpg because it's more efficient.

I would agree, you should get better mpg. When I installed shorties on my 2000 ECSB I noticed an increase in MPG.

Absolutely false! With headers, a good flowing exhaust, and good flowing intake ... your MPG will increase. This is a fact!

Should be better gas mileage, but I only noticed more power and sound... Didn't see gas mileage drop, either

Pretty much any breathing mods (bar blowers... duh) will increase gas mileage because your engine doesn't have to work so hard to get rid of exhaust gases. U/d pullies, electric water pumps, and other stuff like that will also slightly increase mileage.

power adders, cams, gears, and torque converters will all hurt mileage, some more than others.

I have some pacesetter LTs/y pipe, no cats and a single chamber flowmaster and it gets better MPG than stock.

You are still using the same amount of gas and getting more power out of using that gas. So your vehicle will be covering more distance (miles) but not increasing the amount of gas used to do this (gallons).

Therefore, your mpg increases.

^thats another good way to look at it.. you can either go farther with the same amount of gas, or use less gas to go the same distance.

Ditto. Better MPG based on volumetric efficiency.

The majority of people lose mpg because they cant keep their foot out of it after adding performance mods.
