Default amw catch can problems

ok i have had this thang on for a while.. and i was emptying it out like normal(once a month) and i noticed something odd. the ****** had oil\water in it.. i was like oh no not my head gasket...so i checked my engine oil and its normal... i emptyed it out and there was water all in it looked like coffie s\ creamer in it.... what is the deal...i check all my conections and they where fine.. i checked all the vacume lines behind the intake and that was fine as well.... i posted a while back about my hood leaking... but no one responded...it only leaks when i wash my car..and the only water that gets under the hood is just eknouf to fill up the intake where the injectors plug in.. but that doesnt explane why theres water in the catch can..what is the problem. please help i dont wanna end up getin water in my motor and ****** anything else up..thanx

i hope thats all it is.. that kinda causes me to think..if there isnt a catch can there isnt this chance of water to get into the oil and have a chance to get sucked back into the intake and cause more problems...is this a design flaw or what...i dont want watery oil in my motor\intake....anyone else.

I think that may be normal condensation. The oil in your motor should get hot enough to evaporate any water in there, but the catch can stays cool and accumulates water until you empty it.

That's most likely condensation. I have had the oil/cream come out of my AMW catch can before.

You quit using oil? That's strange. The catch can catches the oil before it gets sucked into the intake. So instead of using oil that goes into the intake, you still use oil, it just gets caught in the can so you can empty it out. I don't think it will keep you from using oil unless you pour the oil in the catch can back into the engine (and I wouldn't recommend that).

Yes, it doesn't hurt to have a catch can. I put an AMW catch can on my 01 to stop a pinging problem. Worked like a charm. I clean the can out about every 3 months.

Aside from reducing the oil that is drawn into the intake, the catch can also can actually improve performance since the oil not only gums things up, it reduces the octane level of mixture in the engine and can contribute to knock and timing retard.

As far as the water in the catch can oil, remember you have hot engine vapors with water vapor in it travelling down the tube to a cold catch can - where it condenses to form water - simple as tht and nothing to worry about.
