You car already has a nice set of "shorties" from the factory. Lol.

You may simply have to put block off plates on the emissions fittings if you wish to use them.

i wouldnt bother swapping them for shorties, people say the stock mani's flow jsut as well as shorties do, correct? if you're looking for the sound, i'd just take the cats off and get an ORY.

It would take some modification, and do almost nothing for an 01. It's a waste of time and money.

Well you will pick up a few hp. Its not a total waste of money to go with shorties. Its just that with the money you pay for shorties you could buy Pacesetter LT's.

Not everyone buys Kooks either. I cant be happier with my Pacesetters, they are really nice headers for the price.

lithium, i understanf that not everybody buys kooks but i need to have cats and pacesett dosent offer cats with a y-pipe, so id have to get a tsp y or a qtp y the tsp one has ground clearance issues and the qtp one???? my car is lowered and dosent have much clearance as it is, i understand that you will not get the same gain with shorties compared to longtubes but i think the bbk 1 3/4 shorties with my bassani 2.5 catted y would be a big improvement over the stock manifolds and stock cats and crushed y pipe, and with a cam it should flow alot better that stock???

Crushed Y does not effect the flow as much as you think it should...still flows decent for stock.

I am not saying the the BBK's are a waste...some people are really happy with them and have seen decent gains.

How much you lowered?

shorties arent worth any money at all IMO. I would take them for free and only if I had no intentions of putting long tubes on the car.

MAC Midlengths are tons better than shorties, and they offer a catted Y-pipe.

We weren't talking about a 99'. The original poster has an 01'. You will see more of an improvement with shorties because your stock manifolds don't flow as well as an 01'. You can get the pacesetters for less than shorties and make more power. I believe TSP and pacesetter both make a catted y for the headers. You won't lose that much clearance with the pacesetters. TONS of lowered cars use the pacesetters.

You already lost your stock clearance by adding the bassani Y-pipe. Don't be a wuss!

Since you have an 01', I wouldn't bother. At most, I'd send them off to be ported by Hinson supercars for $75 and call it good. If you don't plan on ever doing LT's, then just port your stock manifolds, put some high flow cats on and call it a day.
