Header to y pipe Exhaust leak, clamp question
My y pipe is a slip fit over the header collectors. My exhaust leak is where the y pipe slides over the header. The y pipe is as far up on the header as I can get it (at least 3.5" overlap) and there are 2 clamps per header holding it down but it is still leaking. the car runs almost as bad as it did on open headers. I am guessing the 02 isnt liking the fresh air. I have 2 basic style exhaust clamps on each connection and the clamps are cranked down as tight as possible. Any ideas on how to stop this leak short of a full weld or flange? Are band clamps any better than standard U bolt style exhaust clamps? Any Ideas
Thanks

Don't use a U-bolt. It will crush your exhaust collector.
I had luck with clamps used for Turbos. They clamp very hard, and are flat, unlike the round section of the U-bolt which digs into the metal and crimps it.
Turbo clamps are available at you local ricer supply store.
* I honestly don't know if they are actually clamps that connect turbo piping, as I know nothing about FI, but that's what the ricer dude referred to them by. I bought 2 and they worked great.
