Im getting ready to put ina set of NGK V-Power pulgs and i hear that there is a lot of dispute on what i should gape them .50 or .55 and if you go ither way and why.....

 

I gapped my NGK tr55 v-power plugs at .055 on the ss, the car seems to be running alot better than the factory plugs(car has 30k miles). I also changed wires to MSD 8.5mm wires. I gapped them at .055 because thats the factory setting.

 

I just did mine also. I was trying to figure out the same thing, and ended up gapping them right in the middle; at around .053

 

i did mine at .50...i think anywhere from .50-.55 is fine

The actual gap is .050-.055" I don't think i want a 1/2" plug gap, need a lightning generator to ark that badboy. We would be asking questions about PTP (plug to piston) clearance

I read somewhere that NA applications need to close the gap .005 for every 50-100hp over stock or somthing like that. Someone else chime in who knows somthing about this.

 

Stock gap is .060.

I've tried gaps everywhere from .050 to .060 with the TR55s and seen no real changes so I usually just split the difference and go .055.

 

so 50-55 would be ok for also the 55gp plugs as well?

 

Are these plugs all gapped identically? I checked the gap on a few when I bought them at Advance auto, and they seemed to be gapped at .055 - I probably should check the gap on every one to be safe though, right?

 

thats what i always do just to be safe you know i just checked mine 7/8 were at 55 one was at 60 so you never know

 

So would those same 55's gapped at .055" be good for a stock aluminum 5.3L on my truck?

 

i would think it would since its still a gen III engine,but im not no pro
