Default Trouble with ported TB

Right after i ported my throttle body my car started to idle funny. I start it and it hits 2000 then it idles down to 1300 then after its warm it surges between 1000 and 1500 in N and Park in drive it surges between 1000 and 1200. I changed the IAC valve and it made it worse so i took that part back naturally but does anyone have any idea of what to do now. The codes say the maf and vaf have low input and the idle is higher than expected. Please help my gas mileage has gone to **** and i have no idea of where to go next weather its a new MAF or what Thanks guys. Its really pissing me off.

I would PM bo white, he is the throttle body king. My throttle body was having the same problems but only when it was cold. after i would drive it for awhile, it would go back to normal. He recomended the IAC vavle fix to and that didnt work for you so see what he says. Sorry Bo for throwing out your services but you are the king.

Hey Bo my car is doing the same thing. When I stop at a light the RPMs will stay between 1300-1500 and finally drop after 5 seconds or so. I can release the brake and it will speed up on it's own to around 43 MPH and not slow down. Help please.

No problem man its good to hear someone is havin the same problem i put a new IAC valve in mine and thats what it did so you might see if your gettin to much air or you IAC valve is bad. I plugged the hole in my throttle body blade because i was gettin to much air and it was throwin codes that were a lean condition so you might try puttin some duck tape over the hole first to see if that might be the problem thats what i did and thank god it worked.

Thanks for the help. I don't have a ported TB on my car only the factory one. The only code the car threw was P0507 which is RPM higher than expected. So I will try the IAC valve later this week and see how it goes. I got a price quote of $125 for the IAC valve and my jaw hit the floor. But hey if it works then I won't be complaining. Thanks again

Sorry for the delay, been too busy around here . What he said, also I think I can beat that price on the IAC by about 25 bucks but Id have to ship it to ya and it wouldnt save ya any

Advance Auto parts should have an iac valve for around 110 i work there and thats what i paid for it so you might try them.

If you filled in the whole area to the IAC, and redrilled,
there are several things to check. Even if you didn't, it
could be as simple as opening up the passage to the IAC.
If you only epoxied/filled to the surface of the IAC inlet,
try opening up the hole a little, doing an idle relearn each time.
If you filled the whole chamber up to the IAC, make sure
you open the horizontal chamber up to at least 3/8",
and make real sure you have no epoxy on the IAC plunger
seat.
Sometimes the IAC stepper will stick. Pulling or tugging
on it will sometimes make it FUBAR, sometimes it actually
works. Anyway the IAC will have to make an adjustment
and they can be stubborn.
