so why not just go with an ory to begin with?
Well IMO it wont sound better with gutted cats...LS1's have a tendency to be really raspy without them.

I have pretty much what your talking about i have Pacesetter LT's with ory running threw Borla Adjustable exhaust with the cut plate fully open it would be super loud i had to close the cut off all the way because it was that loud. So i'm looking to get y-pipe with hiflow cats so i can hopefully put a smaller cutout so i can have flow coming out of both tailpipes seems kind of weird when its cold out and u see smoke only coming out from the driver side tailpipe. I would just get Pacesetter LT's and get ypipe with cats but dont gut the cats also can smell fumes from sitting in 1 spot after awhile.

Also he might need to keep cats on for visual inspection when he takes car to emissions i also gotta get cats for that reason but it will also help quite car down a bit and make less fumes.

Quite a bit louder.

Going from stock manifolds/cats to LTs with no cats is a pretty noticeable difference, even on the quieter catbacks.
