question on EGR

question on EGR ok i took my egr off when i did my headers and of course the ses light came on and it is annoying the crap out of me cause now i dont know if my cats, o2s or anything works properly or not since the egr set it off, so i was wondering if i put the egr back on if the light will go back off, this may be a dumb question but id rather but it back on that get a tune, until heads/cam/intake anyways 
there really isn't any point to take it off unless you got race headers, so just put it back on (p.s. make sure that it seals very good on top of the intake, its very easy to get a leak there which will throw the SES code again)
