Thumbs up True Duals...?

Are There Any True Dual Kits That Don't End Right Before The Axel? I Would Like To Get An X Pipe And True Dual Setup Over The Axel. Anyone Have Any Suggestions, Or What They Have Done? Thanks.

HotWS6, Go to your local muffler shop and have the tec. there build you a set of duals. That way they will be made to fit YOUR car. You will be better satisfied with duals made just for your car and if you give it some thought and have the pipes placed in the proper places, you will have more ground clearence than you have with the stock Y pipe system. If you run both pipes over the axle and all the way out the back exiting out from beneath the bumper in the stock location, you will not have a roar nor drone inside the car. Inside, it will be quiet enouth so that you can listen to the radio or your passanger. You will not have that exhaust gases smell inside the car either.

Speed Inc. ------->

They are up north somewhere, not sure though. They sell a NICE custom over-axle true dual setup. I have TSP duals on my car extended under the axle by a local shop with removable tail sections. There's a thread i started in this section with tons of pics of it.

I was told that duals can't go over the axle because there isn't enough room? I would love my tail pipes back.

You just have to relocate the upper PHR. It also helps to have a good shop that knows what they're doing.

Speed Inc's in IL and will do stuff for you in house. Take your car to them and they'll build you a system how you want it.

Check out www.ls1speed.com and shoot Tom an email.

Another vote for this option.....cost me less than $500 and clearance is amazing....not to mention sound and performance. I went under the axle though. It is tailored to your car and you can play a role in telling them how you want it routed. Very inexpensive and viable.

I did that for my '66 Le Mans, and they did a great job for $300. Midas in Sterling, VA, would you believe it? They had a good ol' boy bending custom pipe, though. You might want to find X-pipe that you like and then have the tec build around that...

I used the (too) narrow band clamps that came with my SLP cats. I've got wicked exhaust leaks, that I'm going to try to fix with 4" stainless steel clamps next week.

I just had flanges welded to the collectors and the exhaust......comes apart real easy if I need it to and no leaks whatsoever.

I would definately recommend having a custom made setup. That's how I did mine, and it turned out really good. Check out my thread for more info. If you lived closer to me I would suggest we talk about building a system.
