foreigner Mod question
But I would like your opinions, you see I live in England and therefore have no access to any tuning shops. I have a bone stock '01 Firehawk and am looking at the LS1 package at Tbyrne, which consists of SLP air lid(no filter),SLP MAF and BBK TB for an approx 30Hp to the wheels. Also I'm thinking about headers but I have to be emissions legal, at least up to California standards and was thinking whether the MAC mid lenghts or Bassani mids both with catted y-pipes would give any gains especially without being able to tune it in.
Sorry for the novel but I want to be as accurate as I can with my question.
Thanks in advance.
What about keeping the stock headers and just changing the Y-pipe for a better flowing unit?
Again thank you.
If you can you could get the long tubes, and HPTuners, and tune the car yourself.
Is the E test a sniffer, or a computer test? If it's just the computer test, just eliminating the codes with one of the editing programs would get you to pass, then the only other thing you'd have to worry about is a visual.
There's a couple of places that are doing LS tuning in the UK now, try...
http://www.xero-competition.co.uk/LS1/index.htm
or
GD cars import LS engines (http://www.lspower.co.uk/) and get their engines tuned by a guy call Geof (something, can't remember) down Northampton/Oxford way.
Alternativly drop a mail to HPTuner or EFILive and see if they have anyone over here doing professional tuning.
I wouldn't worry about the MOT test, get the right parts then get it tuned, I'm planning on running without cats and just flashing a lean tune for the test (still dithering over HPT or EFI Live though
)Rgds
Jim
I'm leaning towards the Bassani mids and catted y-pipe and perhaps an SLP Diablo tuner to try to keep the A/F ratio in check, and of course an air lid.
Thanks Happy Jim, it's nice to know I'm one of a growing number Brits on these boards.
Thanks
