Default To do a cut out or not to do a cut out

I am really undecided about this....first of all the back story of what I am trying to accomplish with this car.

I live in a small town with not too many real fast cars around, LS1 cars are a rare occurrence here, so seeing mine on the road usually causes a potential race with a variety of piece of **** cars that you really don't want to waste your gas on. So....I have been spending a lot of time and money to make my car look more intimidating. I put the SS hood on (Suncoast, not OEM), put the ZR1's with 315's on, added headers, added a cam, B&B Triflo (for it's massive tips), I put my dynoed flywheel hp on the hood scoop and a Police Interceptor badge on the back....all in the name of intimidation. Well, it's not working completely yet. Some dumbass still asked me if I had a V8! So, since the B&B is a fairly quiet exhaust, I am thinking of adding a cut out to spice things up a little. Since my entire exhaust is stainless, I'd naturally go with a Qtech stainless cutout. I don't want to get the electric thingy yet, mostly coz I don't know how the cutout will sound, so I want to keep my investment to a minimum. Also, there is no price advantage between buying the cutout with the electric opener or if you buy them separately.

How loud and obnoxious will this get? I have random tech cats in my headers, and I have a 2.5" Y pipe vs 3" like most guys are running. My car is a weekend car only.....would I be able to run it with the cutout open all the time?

For trivia sake, considering I have a B&B exhaust, will I gain any power from the cutout?

The cats are the ones that take care of most of the rasp, right? In other words running with open cutout shouldn't cause much rasp, right?

How is your experience with the po po? Any issues there?

Thanks for any input.

It will definitely be louder and you may pick up a few ponies too. I put a cutout on the i-pipe when I had a stock setup and was happy for awhile. After having the cutout for a summer I realized I wanted a more refined sound and moved to the GMMG catback and ditched the cutout. This is by far the best sounding catback for the LS1s I have heard. Now that I have LTs, ORY, and GMMG it is just plain old evil sounding.
Some prefer running cats to rid some of the rasp but either way the GMMG with LTs sounds awesome.

So the cutout through the cats on my cammed engine will probably sound like..... a dump truck? I mean, if I cap it off, it should still sound the way it does now, right?

if think it should sound real nice since you've got cats on it. now w/o cats, the sound wouldnt be very good, itd just be real loud and earth shaking.

Dump truck could be a way of describing it. I would just say a cutout wouldnt compliment the sound as much as a good catback. And with the mods and money you have invested I wouldnt rely on a 30.00 cutout just for sound.

You'll pick up some power for sure, how much, hard to say, but the cutout will flow better. IMO it'll sound awesome, it will be loud though, but you can always cap it off when you feel like it and it'll sound the way it does now. With the cats, it shouldn't be very raspy, some catless ls1's i've heard don't sound raspy either.

I am sitting here, on a fence, and don't know which way to jump.....lol.

The cutout would probably be uncapped most of the time if I deem it "liveable". What's not in my mod list is the amount of money that's in my car stereo, which is around 4 grand now, so for those occassions when I wanna hear some of my music, I'll definitely cap it.

I always like the sound of a cammed car, but for driveability issues I went with the small TR224, but I picked the 112 LSA for more lope, so now, I just want to accentuate that lope, and my guess is, the cutout will do a good job of doing just that.

Thanks for the input so far guys, keep'em comin' !
