How to seperate pipes?

How to seperate pipes? i got a used exhaust from a buddy and he used those U clamps and im sure u all know how they make they dent and lock pipes together.. well how the hell do u seperate pipes when they have that dent from the clamp i wanna get everyhitng apart and use nice band clamps for my car. any idea how to do it??

use a grinder to cut a slit up the pipe that goes over the one back to the dent. 2 slits 180 degrees from each other and pry out on the pipe a little. also get some penitrating oil/lube and thats what I had to do to my old exhaust to get it apart so I could ship it away to someone. and with band clamps it shouldn't leak later
