Default SLP Dual Dual guys come on in

Ok I have been going back and forth up and down trying to figure out what exhaust would be best for me. I have spent hours on LS1 sounds and i think i finally found what i have been lookin for. I am kinda strange in that i want my car to be, at least on the outside just a regular 02 SS (under the hood will be a diff story) so this led me to slp and i really love the Dual dual, i looks much better then loudmouth and is much more quiet. I have heard that it makes pretty good power as well, but i wanted to hear it from u guys, likes, disslikes
everything lets hear it!

I switched from the LM to the Dual/Dual Wednesday.
Only thing I don't like is how the tips hang down too low and they are way under the car. Can't be adjusted because the hangers are welded on from the factory. It's way more quiet than the LM, heavy though.
Before I ordered I spent two nights on ls1sounds, you get a general idea on there if you can listen to several with the same mods as you have or stock. You'll never know exactly what it'll sound like.

The D/D is a very good flowing muffler and is also the quietest one around.

I have the D/D on my SS and I can't really say that I have any strong dislikes. However I want something that is louder, it is a little to docile for me. On cold start ups the car will roar to life with a loud rumble that will put a grin on your face but after the car warms it is farily quiet. At WOT it rips pretty good but nothing like the loud mouth. It does seem to be a bit heavy and bulky as someone else mentioned. Also there is somewhat of a drone in the cab at cruising speeds, but it is not loud enough to really bother me. As far as flow and power increase i am not certain. All in all it is not a bad system if your looking for a louder than stock exhaust note and want to maintain a certain level of civility around town. And your car will still maintain its stock look as well. Best thing to do is to try to hear it in person before you make up your mind. From what you described in your post though it sounds like the D/D is a good choice.

A dual/dual came stock on my SS and I like it. It is very quiet, but I hear it sounds perfect with headers/ORY. Most people only gain 3-5rwhp by going through a cutout vs. full exhaust with a dual/dual, so they do flow very well. If you want a subtle performance exhaust, then this is it.

I had the Dual/Dual on my 02 for 2+ years. I thought it was too tame. I went with the GMMG recently and prefer that to my Dual/Dual. the Dual/Dual is a very quiet catback IMHO.

I had one from the get go. I had to get rid of it, because it was too quiet.

i really like the random tech catback, i dont know if any of you have heard it but its quiet like the dual dual, maybe a little louder, but a complete 3" system tailpipes included and is like a 3 hp loss over a cutout.. i think its around $350, mine came with 4" slash cut tips.. I eventually swapped out it for a hooker when i got longtubes.. kinda regretting it now since there was nothing wrong with it

i had a chambered gmmg type setup before with just headers and y sounded great, put in the cam and got pulled over 3 times in 3 days . put a dual/dual on with a cutout and have never looked back quiet and tame when i need it to be and can adjust how loud i wanna go with my cutout. flows extremely well too. also not an ounce of drone on the highway like some catbacks. kinda the best of both worlds

I've run the Dual Dual on my last 2 F-Bodies. It's nice having a car that will do over 120 in the 1/4 but never draws the attention of the cops from blocks away like a loud catback would do. My neighbors also like me a lot better when I start it up at 5:30 every morning. Great power, great sound, good looks. Best all around catback IMO.

I liked my DD that came with my CME and I would still be running it today but i've went thu 3 DD mufflers. My factory DD muffler blew out all the ceramic packing material soon after I added longtubes & ORY. I walked behind the car one morning and noticed the insides of my CME tips looked like a dryer lint trap. The car then began to resonate and was considerably louder than before. I found a new SLP take off DD muffler on Ebay and bought it. Welded it up into my CME and not two months later the same thing happened. This time I bought a low miles used DD off Ebay and it lasted about 9 months before it blew out. I finally said the hell with the DD and bought a Corsa muffler that does not have any ceramic packing to blow out.

The DD sounds great with LTs & ORY, about the only catback with no rasp when used with no cats. I would gain about 8rwhp opening my QTEC w my LS6 cam setup over the DD & CME.

The DD muffler is one heavy SOB compared to my Corsa. I literally about threw the Corsa thru my ceiling upon picking it up for the first time.

I was wondering about this. I swapped out a LM for the D/D. Took it for a 30 mile easy drive. When I got back there was a lot of lint type material inside the tips. And my car is mostly stock.
It does have a slight interior drone, thats the only reason I got rid of the LM so if it blows the ceramic out and gets louder I'm going to be a little upset.

I think I've chosen the D/D as well. I'm going to put it on, then plan on getting some LTs and an ORY for it because it's too quiet when stock. My buddy has it on his 02 SS and from inside the car, it sound remarkably like Magnaflow. Just a bit too tame for me on stock manifolds.

I've had the dual center mount exhaust on my old 01 SS and now have the D/D exhaust on my present car. I think the center mount exhaust was a little louder and throatier. But I like my D/D exhaust the best now because it does sound good with LT's/ORY, it's not that loud and still performs well without getting the attention of the cop’s. When I want to be loud I just open the cutout’s which is most of the time anyways. I got the best of both worlds IMO.

That never happen to the car I have now when I added LT’s/ORY. But then again I bought this one used. This car never showed any evidence that it was ever modded.

I bought a used DD last year and have been very happy with it. It had a Zed-style y-pipe welded in which I used with my electric cut-out for awhile. But I got tired of the cutout never sealing and sounding like ***.

I've since removed the electric cutout and capped the y-pipe.I like hearing the hollow flow, but not the harshness. I hear more noise from my engine bay than I do from the exhaust. No problems with the muffler yet.

I love my D/D. It may be quiet but I'll take awesome flow and HP numbers over "yo listen to how loud my exhaust is" stuff.
