Default header install w/ jack question

installing new headers on my car, and i usually have use of my uncles garage that has a pit in it that you can drive over... so hes always busy im sick of waiting... gonna use a jack.. i know this has been posted before but to get the car high enough im going to have to put a block of wood on the jack right? i have ramps that i usually use but i dont think they will get it high enough, if they will, let me know? so i lost my service manual and i dont know where to put the jack or the jack stands on the front of the car? so if anyone has pics of an install showing where the jack or jack stands are or if you can just tell me where to place them it would be appreciated

thanks

Go to www.installuniversity.com, and go to LSX vehicles. They have the F-body lift point there!
As far as doing headers with a jack.... I don't know if you could do it (safely ) w/o a pretty good size jack. You really need to get the front end of the car atleast 1.5' off the ground. Ramps alone will not cut it. Once ya get her up though, they'll pretty much slide right in.

With my pacesetter race LT's, I had to loosen the driver side motor mount and tweek the engine about a half inch to get them in as stated in the directions (some people don't though).

yeah ive heard some having to mod several things and others doing nothing.. if i have to mess with the motor mounts im going to be in trouble though.. cutting and grinding isnt a problem.. im actually driving off a foot high curb (ramps) so the rear is up, then putting the front on ramps and to level it for the jack.. im going to give it a shot.. i have a 6x6 block of wood ive used for similar things.. im hoping this is only a weekend project..

You will be OK it you get some big 6 ton jackstands and a jack that can get in high enough in the air. Remeber safety is the key. From my personal experiance I've never seen anyone have to loosen a motor mount to get LT's in, but I'm not saying for some LT's you won't have to. I've just never experianced that. Just remember LT's always go in from underneith. The only things I have to move around was the stearing linkage and the oil deverter plate (It's right next to your oil filter). Just take your time and it should be an overall easy install. Just my .02

just put in my lt you can use a jack, i did, used ramps to get it up then a jack to raise it about a foot off of the ramps, driver side should go in with just ramps but passenger you will need to get the tires about a foot off of the ramps. unsafe for about a min or two but once u get the header in place you can lower the beast back down onto the ramps, make sure you use 02 extensions and not that cheap splicing route.

have fun i know i did, got the car so high up the hood open was hitting the roof. and make sure you get everything when your down there no point in goin back down just because you forgot to plug a O2 extension in, and make sure those are out of the way also so they dont melt. almost had a bad experience with that but caught it in good enough time. good luck, take your time, and make sure you do it right and not as fast as you can.
