Default Dialetic grease on sparkplug wires

What exactly does it do? Is it necessary? If so, is aerosol the best to use?

I'd use it Wayne. From what I remember reading about it, the dialetic grease is supposed to aid in forming a suction between the end of the sparkplug wire and the plug. Using the grease also makes disconnecting the wires from the plugs a little easier in my opinion. What brand of wires are you going with? I used the dialetic grease that came in a little tube with my Taylor wires. Don't know about the aerosol type grease.

Dielectric grease protects electrical connections and wiring from salt, dirt and corrosion. Prevents voltage leakage around any electrical connection. Also prevents spark plugs from fusing to boots.
Don't use the aerosol, it's wasteful, use the tube, and a toothpick to spread an even coat on the inside of the plug boot

Dielectric grease prevents the spark plug boot from fusing to the plug, protects electrical connections from moisture, salt, dirt and corrosion. Permatex markets it in a 3oz. tube for about $4. Item # 22058
