Default SLP Y-pipe

Does anyone have the SLP Y-pipe for a 2000 Trans Am. How do u like it? Does it not scrape the ground at times, because the factory one is flattened so it wouldnt. Did you feel a horsepower increase at all? Thanks alot, Brad.

Brad, I had the SLP Y-Pipe on my 2000 SS and it makes very little difference. There is a slight, and I mean slight increase in interior exhaust sound and a very, very slight increase in power up top. If you plan to buy only shorty headers, I would recommend the y-pipe, if not save your money for long-tubes. I sold mine to buy long tubes.

A guy in town had a round Y pipe custom made for like $80. Did a before and after dyno and picked up like 10 hp. Not too shabby. Just go to an exhaust shop, they could probably hook you up for less $$ than the SLP.

I have the SLP Y-pipe. Great fit, no banging or ground scraping at all. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

From what I have read alot of people are down on the SLP Y-Pipe. IMHO it is great. I have not done a dyno test but I can confirm the previous posters comment about improved high-end RPM. I can definitely tell the difference in the high-end RPM. My exhaust note is slightly deeper and louder. I am not a big fan of the butt-o-meter but I can tell you I definitely can feel more pulling at high-RPMs..almost night and day. To be fair I cannot say for sure if the pipe alone is worth it but with my current modifications it definitely woke something up.
For $200 it is not a bad price and installation is a breeze. (From what you read on this board alot of other people have spent more and done less with more work). I had to bend the tunnel brace down a little to keep it from banging. That was the toughest part. Im planning on getting an aftermarket tunnel brace to clear the pipe or future collector. If I hit a fairly big dip or bump in the road I can hear the pipe bang slightly on the floor but that is not very often.
Also Ive been reading the other threads and the people who say it sucks most of them dont even have one. So I am glad I did not take thier word for it and tried it out myself. There is no way I will ever put the factory pipe back on.

I have one on my `02 Z.No clearance problems except the tunnel brace.Either pitch it or shim it with washers.Get a 3" catback to go with it and you should pick up a few horses.
