Default Beginning mods...

I just got my 98 SS maybe 2 months ago. All i have on it right NOW is exhaust. J/W what you guys think would be the best bolt-ons performance-wise to start me off. Thanks.

first off is it a 6-speed or an automatic??
some basic bolt-on performance you could do is an air lid which seems to be a pretty early mod...ported maf, ported throttle body, headers, underdrive crank pulley...basically most of the stuff i have in my sig. if its a 6-speed definatly get a new clutch and if its an automatic get torque convertor/gears...
hope some of this helps <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

First thing(s) would be the obvious. Tune her up. New plugs, fuel filter, air filter, lube swap (all: motor, diff & tranny), oil filter.

How many miles?

At Tom's site, he has a FAQ section. http://www.tbyrnemotorsports.com/ls1catalog.html

Lid, then you have different directions in my opinion. If you have an auto get a torque convertor, best mod there is for an auto. But if you are like me you will want some better sound so exhaust, u already have, and headers. After them then you can go ls6 intake, depending on if your car came with it or not. I have read bad things about maf so i wouldn't recommend one but that is me. Then there are underpully's if i got one it would be asp, the others may cause damage (From what i have read). Then after that you can go for some big power gainers.

These are just my opinions, and they way i'm doing it. Just look for what you want to do

Hey i'm new to this to and I did just what you did send out a posts on camaro boards just like this one anyway I did most of what I thought would be good for getting the exhaust out and the air in so first I did a cat-back and started looking into how to get more air in the motor and the MTI lid, K&N fltr plus either free ram air>>http://www.f-body.org/rob/98z/ramair/index.htm or I went with the Fast Toy's Ram Air kit witch turned out to be a great mod for me Goodluck that's my 2 cents.

2002 Z28 Onyx M6 T-Tops
MTI lid w/K&N, FTRA, 160 t-stat, SPL fan switch-bellows-ATM-CAGS, Lou's short stick, Clear corner lens, 20% tint, Mobil 1 10w30 & AC Delco #PF59 lrg fltr, V1, MagnaFlow cat-back.

I'm in the same situation here.. i already got the basics in my sign. But i was thinkin about a hypertech programmer as my next investment.. then headers. I would say get a short shifter, some drag tires cuz your tires should be almost ready to go if there still stock? ram air sounds good.. can't think of n e thing else right at the moment.. but hope that helps.

I started out with the Lid and K&N. Then did Y pipe, exhaust, 160 t-stat w/HPP3, the free mods, SFC's, and most recently 3.73 gears. I feel this is a good order to start out in. I've still got several things to do on mine.
