bullet muffler?????

bullet muffler????? Im current set up is a bassani ORY, spintech exhuast,
and a cutout. I just installed a compcam, and the car
sounds awsome when its capped. But when I uncap it,
its sounds mean at idle, and full throttle. But when
Im cruising about 30-40 miles is rasps alot, and when
I shift at slow speeds it backfires loudly. My question
is, will putting a bullet muffler on the I-pipe,
before the cutout eliminate that? And will It sound
any different when it is capped? Any power loss?
any help would greatly be appreciated!!!

Re: bullet muffler????? I think most people put 2 bullets in there Y-pipe, and that usually takes away most the rasp. I know some people have said they've put a ton of that undercoating stuff on there heat shiels, and under that car and stuff, and thats also helped.
Re: bullet muffler????? i know when people put on the bullet the rasp goes away. as for keeping the bullet in place and cap your car to run through the exhaust you have on there, i would think if you had cats with your current setup would restrict more than no cats and a bullet muffler in the place of the cats so to say. i am sure a bullet flows better than 2 cats on your car that way when ucapped it sounds like the bullet and when capped it sounds like your spintech. cool! sound of bullet uncapped and sound of spinteck capped! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Re: bullet muffler????? THanks guys for the info, I have to ask though, will putting 2 bullets on the why hinder ground clearance, and how will it sound both cap and uncapped? Will it be quieter capped than now? I just need reassurance....Rockls1
Re: bullet muffler????? I use a single 16" bullet in my I Pipe. My cut-out follows directly after the bullet. When capped, the bullet eliminated the rasp with Grot ORP and combined with my SLP Dual Dual, my car is very stealthy for my power level. Uncapped, my car sounds crappy in the 2000 - 3000 rpm range and you can feel the buzz vibrating the car. Sounds awesome, when I really get into it and get up in the rpms.
Results are system dependent. My current set-up is MUCH better sounding than when I had MAC Headers & ORP with bullets on both sides of the Y-Pipe. Most of that is due to the header system, rather than the bullets.
Bottom line is it will help a little but don't expect a miracle if you are the guinea pig for the design. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
