Default remember the post "why horsepower DOESN'T=horsepower?

Well, after reading over that post i dont really have an opinion except for whatever makes more horsepower i will do. Though after installing my FLPs the other day (they are great!!!) if i just wanted to go mess around friday night or something with the cutout open and ORpipes, what was the arguement about as far as burning out your valves. I have stock valvetrain work, and dont want to be punching it with the off roads and the cutout only to not be able to drive my car the next day because or burned valves. Can i do this???

Put the cutout in the I pipe towards the rear of the car, right under where the rear seat would be. That is plenty far away to not burn valves. I have been running FLP/ORP/cutout with it there since day one of the FLP's. You could just get a 12" pipe made at a muffler shop to extend from the offroad pipes and install cutouts on the end of those, then you would have open headers and the valves would still be fine. Its running open headers with no pipe on the end of the collectors that may cause the valves to get burnt up.
Hope this helps

You worry too much sometimes. Just open her up and ride <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

My old exhaust system: MAC headers, ORY, cutout, Supertrapp exhaust. I ran the cutout right where the y-pipe meets the I-pipe. The cutout was open 24/7 for about a year. My car is still fine <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Got tired of how frickin loud it was after a year and the raspiness too. So, 2 weeks ago, I switched to a x-pipe system and bullet mufflers. It still screams, just no rasp at all. Lot smoother of a sound.
