It's normal to see timing in the 40* range at part throttle. Prior to MAFT and HPP3, my 2000 SS would consistently sit around 40* cruising in 6th gear. WOT is really what you should be concerned with and 27* is about the max (actually it would always max out at 27.5*) that I was getting on the stock tuning.
