Emissions and you I bought my car used from a dealer in december, so by CA law, i assume they had it smog checked. From what i gather its every 4 years you have to get smog checked in CA, but not exactly sure.
I am considering saying "screw emissions" and just swapping the stock parts back on, pass emissions, then switch back. What are the dangers or difficulties of doing something like this. I'm not sure if it is worth the cost of trying to keep it emissions legal, especially with CA's strict laws.

Re: Emissions and you Well it depends on what you have installed on your car and then try to switch out later. If you install headers without cats and then switch them back to stock it probabaly will be a little expensive, just think about paying double what you paid to have them installed (To take them off them put them back on). However if you have cats (If you get caught w/o cat there is a 4 digit fine <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> ) with the headers you shouldn't have any problems passing the "sniffer" test but the visual test if another story.
If you get an aftermaerket cam then switching back to stock when its emmisions time will be very costly and probably not a good idea for the valvetrain.
Of course if you do your own install work (and un-install) it wont cost you much money just lots of time.
Edit: BTW what kind of car did you buy?

Re: Emissions and you i believe that a newly purchased car is exempt from smog testing for four years afterwards. but after the four years its every 2 yrs. someone please correct me if im wrong. im just going with gutted cats, y pipe, and loudmouth with my custom CME. should sound nice and clean when all complete this summer.
