Default Ported/Epoxied AIR LID!

I've been strategizing a way to stay ahead of Mr. Burger and I ran across a couple cool ideas for the intake side. One of which I'll share, the other is top secret.

After taking a long hard look at my Whisper Lid, I noticed a few interesting things. First, on the short side of the air lid where air enters, there is a real abrupt edge and then on each side, the radius leads into a wall instead of the MAF. So I put a nice knife edge on the short side, radiused it in, and epoxied up the sides and eliminated the two abrupt spots where air would just stop instead of going in the MAF. Here are a couple pics to explain...sorry the pics aren't the best.

Here are the two Ugly Abrupt corners showing how the air lid is fit together. Instead of it being nice and round like the top side of the box, the short side sucks.

You can see how the air lid comes to an L shape on the short side. It sucks for airflow and then it all flows into the corner instead of in the MAF.

Now here is a preliminary picture of what mine looks like from the other side.

Epoxied Air Lid

You can see the nice radius I put on the short side of the box, especially in the corners where the epoxy is. Air will flow smoothly and evenly all the way into the MAF.

In addition, as the box nears where the MAF is located, it has some humps and bumps that can't help airflow. I opened up the air entrance all the way around and contoured it so air would flow into the MAF straighter, straighter being the key word.

I know the airbox will flow more air, but what kind of gains are possible? Who knows, but I'll take every little bit of help I can get. The Whisper Lid has shown excellent gains over stock, but until now, it was only 1/2 as good as it could have been.

I'll take some better pics tomorrow and maybe show some neat MAF mods and some dialing in of my cold air (FRA).

Woudl that compromise the strength of the lid/housing at all? Looks like it'd do nothing but good otherwise.
