Ok, from 10:30 to 3:30 today I've been working on getting MAC's in with a friend. So far, we have the drivers side manifold off, plugs out, y-pipe taken off, and O2 sims installed. We can't get the header to snake up on the drives side, and I'm completely lost where to even start on the passenger side. There's not even enough oom to fit my socket back there for some of the manifold bolts. Anyone have some tips on how to make this whole mess more painless? I'm driving myself nuts trying to snake that drivers side header in there. I was told to unbolt the engine mount and jack it up an inch or two... but i'd like to avoid that if possible.

The easiest way to get the driver side header in is from the bottom.......If you will remove the 4 15mm crossmember bolts and allow the rear of the tranny to hang down it will give you more room to work with. You may even need a friend under there with you with a prybar to help move the tranny an inch or two more towards the passenger side. It will go in I promise
The passenger side is not as bad as it looks, just remove everything that is in you way, the coil packs, dipstick, airpump tube, ect.....The header will also go in from the bottom and will be easier to get in place than the driver side.
Good luck.

Another way you can do a MAC install (the way I did it) I removed the motor mount bolts one at a time, and jacked the motor up just a couple inches. This allowed me to slide them right up in there, this method works for almost all types of headers too. Just be sure both motor mounts are loose before you start jackin the motor up. I found this way much easier than removing the coil packs. Just my .02 though.

I've put MACs in from the top as well as from the bottom. The last install I did, though, was a set of SLP long tubes. After removing the starter and the oil filter, I supported the K-member with the jack, loosened the two front K-member bolts and removed the four rear bolts, and lowered the rear of the K-member without ever touching a motor mount bolt. This gave me all kinds of room to get the SLPs in without so much as a scratch. I would think that MACs would go in even easier this way. Somebody give it a try and let us know how it works out.

I got both mine in from the bottom. Just had to remove the first 3 coil packs on each side and thats it. For the driver side I jacked up the engine just like 2 inches, didn't remove any mounts or anyting. Passenger side it just went right in.
