Default What should I expect?

Should I notice a seat of the pants improvement with the mods listed here? Presently the car has only a K&N and a flowmaster muffler. '99 Z28 Auto 2.73 rear. I don't go to the track so I have nothing to compare against.

FTRA
ported MAF ends
LS1 Motorsports lid
and programming with the Hypertech?

I wouldn't want to expect something and be disappointed.

Thanks

I don't recommend the ported MAF ends on an A4. One of the parameters that the PCM looks at to determine trans. line pressure is the MAF sensor. With ported ends, the MAF reads less air flowing through, so it decreases line pressure at WOT. This will decrease the life of the clutches inside the trans. by quite a bit. A stock, descreened MAF flows better than most think. It was good enough for an 11.63 for me.
As for the FTRA, lid, and HPP3, you should notice a decent increase in power...1-.2 at best. Some have had good luck w/ the HPP3 and some have not. The "power tuning" adds more timing at WOT, so if you don't get any detonation you may pick up 5-8 RWHP from it. If you do get detonation from the added timing, then it will hurt you more than it will help. I'd recommend a 160 t-stat if you're going to run the power tuning. That will help fight off detonation. If you know someone with AutoTap or a Tech II scanner, then that would be the best way to see what's going on. You'll be able to look at timing advance, knock retard, and anything else you can think of.
If I were you, I'd save up for an aftermarket torque converter. It will show the biggest reduction in ET, by far, for a "bolt on". .4-.5 will be a walk in the park with the mildest of converters.

I don't think the 99s have the problem with the MAF ends, just the newer ones. I may be wrong, but that is what I have heard from numerous sources.

Personally, I wouldn't use the tuning, just the shift point, rev limiter, fan temp.

With those mods, I think you can expect .3-.4 as long as the shift are set right and the MAF ends don't give too much timing.

Thanks for the input. Phillip with Fasttoys thought that the ends would be ok with the 99. Like I said I don't go to the track any so I don't have anything that precise to compare before and after results, pretty much a seat of the pants type deal. The car threw the SES light a couple of months ago and I took it to a local mechanic that I trust, when he connected up his diagnostic box to it, he said that the only thing he saw was that the car was runnig rich. We changed plugs and wires, reset the light and haven't had a reoccurance. Phillip said that if the car was running rich as it is that I shouldn't have any probs with the ends because most problems are do to them leaning the car out to much. We'll see how it goes.

Thanks,
