Default Hooker LT install...

Ok, first, was I supposed to recieve some instructions on how to install my Hooker headers? 'Cause I didn't. I was wondering if you guys had any information on how to install them? I've never installed headers before.

You shouldnt have any trouble rolling the back end up on rhino ramps. My T/A is lowered with the Eibach Pro-kit, and still has plenty of room. I jacked my front end up pretty high, just guessing, 30-36". We used jackstands under the front end, and ramps in the back.

Everything is pretty much straight forward. Start by dropping the back half of your exhaust. Fairly simple process IMO. After that, go ahead and rip all the EGR stuff out of the way, and also pull the passenger side coil pack, and the dipstick too. Saves alot of time in the long run.

After the old exhaust is out of the way, we put my headers in from the bottom. Passengers side will slide right in without moving anything. Drivers side, I had to move a little bracket right above the oil filter (some type of vent maybe?), a small heat shield, and the steering linkage. Also made it easier to go ahead and pull the plugs, although thats not a requirement, it can be done without it....

Hope this helps you out. It was my first time ever doing a header/ORY install, and everything took just under 9 hrs for me.

I just did mine last night, y-pipe isn't in yet, and plugs & coil packs aren't in yet, but headers are in and torqued down.

On the '98s, theres limite room on the pass. side, so I removed the plugs, plug wires, and coil packs.

Driver's side, removed the plugs & wires.

Underneathe the car, unbolt the exhaust from the manifolds, and y-pipe connection, etc. . .don't forget to unplug the 02 sensors.

Now you can drop the manifolds out.

Next, drain the oil, remove the filter, and then remove the oil diverter plate w/ the 2 10mm bolts.

This is right above where the filter attaches.

Next, use a 11mm socket to undo the steering shaft, in 2 places. . . remove it.

Now there's room for the hookers to slide in on both side. . . literally takes seconds.

install, and torque down to 20-25ft lb's.

Great guys, just one more questoin (or two):

Do I have to remove the both valve covers?
Do I have to remove the coil packs on each side?

Thanks!

We did it without removing either of the coilpacks or valve covers. EGR was the Devil! EGR

You wont have to remove any valve covers. Makes it much easier if you remove the coil packs on the passenger side, although I'm sure it can be done without removing them. Do yourself a favor and remove them early, especially if there are going to be children around, otherwise you will probably teach them some words they dont need to hear
