Synthetic or regular oil with an Auburn?

Synthetic or regular oil with an Auburn? I switched from 3.23's to 3.73's and I am doing a 500 mile break in. After that they are going to change the oil. I have 300 more miles to go.
I was told by someone else not to use Synthetic gear oil since I have an Auburn but they didn't say why.
The mechanic wants to use synthetic. So do I.
Opinions?

Re: Synthetic or regular oil with an Auburn? I don't know about other year LS1s, but my 98 Formula came with synthetic in the rear from the factory, and that's an Auburn diff. No problems there.

Re: Synthetic or regular oil with an Auburn? I've got 55k miles on my Auburn Pro Torque differential, and it's had synthetic oil in it from day 1, along with the GM additive. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
