Default Hooker LT install a sucess (somewhat)

I installed my Hooker Long Tubes today, with the help of some friends. The install went fairly smoothly. Total time was about 8 hours. My main point for posting this is I have a bone to pick with the bolts (and washers) Hooker sent me. I mangaed to partially strip 4 holes in my heads because of those things. However, I used some of the stock bolts (because I was short 6), and they were PERFECTLY FINE. Fortunatley, the holes that were partially striped I put the factory bolts back in, and they seemed to have enough thread. I'm considering using some rethreaded on them (although I have no header leaks). BTW, the locking washers they send are the ONE SIZE TOO BIG. . My Jet-Hot coated ypipe will arrive Monday (i'll post some pics), and will install it then. I'm having fun driving around open Headers. Its friggin loud! So i'm happy they are on, jet dissapointed in some of the hardware Hooker sent me.

I agree..I would not use any of the gaskets or lock washers they supply. Only the GM stuff for that!

Ya, I stripped the first few threads on a couple holes also. Trashed the hooker bolts and reused the GM. Their placement of the driver side O2 bung needs to be re-engineered also.

We got my Hookers in on Sat with the coated ORY. Was'nt too bad. The fit was awesome and it sounds great through a FM catback. I used new GM gaskets and Stage 8 bolts.

I love the Hooker Headers, but those bolts are too short and those gaskets are crap. However, the driver side O2 sensor on the drivers side is a real pain in the ***. You have to notch out the heat shield to clear the wires, then worry about chaffing. Use some loom wrap on the wires to keep them safe. I love the headers, but Hooker needs to deal with some of the bullshit that is going on with the kits. I never got any extensions for my sensors, and my friend didnt get any instructions (bolts & gaskets either) with his kit. But despite that fact, I still rave about these headers!
