Default Very close to ordering hookers

Alright, i basically have the cash, now i just need to know exactly what i need.

I'll need the headers (hooker LT's) and the ORP, the O2 simms (2), and then what? I've heard reusing the gasget is fine, are new gasgets needed? I've heard that the bolts hooker sends are poorly sized, so its better to use the stock bolts, true? I've also heard about anti-sieze, is this a sealant, and is this another thing? What else do i need. Is a torque wrench a must, or can i just try to get it as tight as the bolt felt to get off (and do you just crank them down hard, but not all the way you can)?

About the install. I've heard of people taking barely anything out, then i've heard of people of taking a ton of stuff out. Will i need to drain the oil, b/c someone mentioned taking out something having to do with the oil pan? What are the best things to remove, as i'm not the smoothest with LS1's yet, i'd rather not remove half the engine (exagerated). Any help is VERY greatly appreciated as i'd like to have these headers in without a catasrophy. Thanks.

the gaskets are reuseable.. unless you break one for a crazy reason they are fine.

the anit seize goes lightly on the plug threads and O2 sensors cuz its an aluminum head.(not a gasket maker)

i put the bolts at ''tight'' but not bust a vein tight, and recheck them after a few heat cycles

put wd-40 on all the stock bolts a bit before you try to break them loose. dont cry if you break the stock manifold studs, happens all the time.

you may need to remove some coil packs, especially from the drivers side, or perhaps the entire valvecover if thats your thing, just dont drop any bolts in there.

both headers go in from the bottom, reusing the stock bolts is fine too.

you dont need to remove anything else.. but if you get frustrated, do what you feel necessary.
and good luck <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Ok, so buy the headers, ORP, O2 simms, anti-sieze. I have the WD-40 obviously. So I should just plan on moving whatever i have to, and hopefully nothing too major. Thanks for the help.

The title...ya, i kinda hoped it would make more people look into the post <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> .

Well, just ordered the Hooker LT's, ORP, GM gasgets, and extensions for the O2's (came with the hookers).

I am excited and nervous, this will be my first install getting into the engine...actually taking stuff apart, heh.

ANY more info that would help me out with this install and not botch it would be rewarded with my eternal soul <img border="0" alt="[hail]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" /> . Thanks!

do a search for hooker in this section of LS1 tech.

You'll see plenty of replies. BTW, I didn't bother spraying any of my bolts. . . I just took everything apart when the engine was warm, and they came out VERY EASY.

I am searching through old topics.

I am just kinda nervous about it being my first real install, so i just want to be as prepared as possible, not screw anything up.

I'm in Rancho Penasquitos (i can't even spell it, lol), its right next to poway. If you know where Mt. Carmel Highschool is i'm basically right there.

I'd appreciate it soooo much if you are willing to help a knowledgeable hand in any way, so if you are just let me know. Thanks. <img border="0" alt="[Fluffy]" title="" src="graemlins/fluffy.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />
