The real deal on headers and associated error codes?
Hi folks,
Some questions after a few days of research here on tech:
If I install long tubes and a catted Y, is it better to keep my AIR system? I have read in numerous threads that the AIR system will help extend the life of the cats.
Second: If I put O2 simms in the rear, that *should* eliminate both an absent rear O2 code as well as a catalyst below efficiency code, right?
Third: ideally, if I get those vette rear O2's, I shouldn't have any of the heater voltage circuit codes thrown, right?
Finally: I've heard people say that none of these codes effect performance, but don't they all throw the computer into open loop, which would reduce performance?
Confused,
Bryan

AIR lights off the cat faster, so it gets up to temp quicker, so in theory the AIR helps the life of the cat
Yes
This one is a maybe some have had good luck using the vette o2s (like me) others still get the code occasionally, I suspect they get the code less often than they would with the stock o2s
Nope they don't affect the performance, just light up that annoying light on the dash (didn't notice a difference in either mpg or performance while I was waiting on the sims or the vette o2s)
